James D. Neighbors

Jimmy Neighbors was born on June 2, 1928, in Rockfield, Kentucky.  At maturity in 1951 he stood 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighed 138 lbs.  Jimmy had gray eyes, brown hair, and a medium complexion.  When Jimmy was not on the race track, he was a steam-fitter.

During Jimmy’s racing career he drove several cars and raced at Leitchfield, Horse Cave, Russellville, and Bowling Green, Kentucky.  He rolled his car three times but was never injured.

Jimmy’s last car was H-8 sponsored by Cohron Motor Company which was powered by a 6 cylinder 1949 Hudson motor.  Jimmy raced in Beech Bend Park’s inaugural 1951 season.
